uncover: Senior Capstone
Graphic Design Senior Capstone Project
Fall 2023 - Spring 2024
This project is the capstone project for the Graphic Design Senior Studio class at the University of Massachusetts Lowell. It is the culmination of a year long process including ideation, research, and creation. "uncover" is a project which aims to foster deeper appreciation of, and contribution to local history through communal education and exploration of historical sites.

The uncover app is an educational social media platform aiming to provide a digital space for communities to interact with one another and discuss, teach, and enrich local history.

It consists of three main screens:

       1. Community
       2. Map
       3. Locations

Groups created by, and Information sourced from individuals follow a red color scheme, while blue denotes historical societies.
Poster
I wanted my poster to be a visual representation of imagination and the experience of being in a historically significant place. For the location, I chose the razed Moulton Castle in Newburyport, MA. The main background image is a photograph of the exact site where the castle once stood. I used a self made drawing and handwriting along with researched and curated photographs, poems, and literature, to create a visual language representative of the emotions I was seeking to evoke.

I chose to make around 30 prints of the poster through the CMYK separation screen printing technique, adding another layer of historical meaning and continuity to the project.
